Thought for the day

It's alwfully hard to forgive someone who won't even apologise for what they've done.

XXX: State of the Union

Shipped: XXX: State of the Union - Shipped on 11/23/05.
Presidential addresses to Congress notwithstanding, the state of the union ain't great when Darius Stone (Ice Cube), a new National Security Agency operative, lands in the nation's capital. It seems a rogue military faction (led by Willem Dafoe) plans to topple the U.S. government, and it's up to Stone and veteran Agent Augustus Gibbons (Samuel L. Jackson) to checkmate the bad guys in this action thriller from director Lee Tamahori.

If you want to watch things blow up and an all out action trill ride you might like XXX:State of the Union. If you want a Generation X Jame Bond type dramtic thriller (like the first movie in the seriers) pass this one by. None of the elements that made the first movie great are here. No X-games style stunts, not Bond like gagets, No Europeian backdrop. No sexual tention. Not even the great witty dialouge of the first movie is found here. Oh yeah Vin Diesel isn't in it either.

Once more with feeling

I have become convinced that Joss is Ghost writting for Veronica Mars. The writting is just so good. But if he's trying to keep a low profile I don't think he's doing a good job of it. So far he's made a cameo Charisma is a regular and Alyson
has made appearances.

Am I alone?

Okay so I *finally* get my new blog up and running and I notice that no one else is posting in their's Web Wonky hasn't posed since Sept, Larry and Yo haven't posted since Oct. ::sigh:: I guess everyone is out of town for the holidays or something.
I've had a weird few days first of all my monitor just stoped working. Now it has done this twice before but the next day it just worked. I assumed it was a short or something but I change the cords and its been working fine for months then on Wedsday it just shut off on me. I'm guessing its something to do with the power supply. Okay so no big deal right I mean I'm a geek I've got to have at least 4 other monitors in my house so no problem I'll connect one of them up to my computer and I'm back in business. Only problem is my video card DVI and *all* my other monitors are VGA. So I spent two days searching for my DVI -> VGA adaptor. I was just about to break down and just pay for anothor one when my wife found it (thanks Honey). So for three days I was in the weird position of having my computer working fine but not being able to access it (this is my long way of explaining why I haven't posted in awhile :) )

New Site

Okay after *much* toil. I finally got the new site up. This will be a cleaner simplier carlparrish.com instead of trying to be a blog, community *and* an magizine site. I decided to create two new sites. Hawkeye's Herald is the Mag site where I'll be posting articles etc... tribeX.org is our new community site. All user name / passwords that used to work for cp.com will now work at Hawkeye's Herald and tribeX. But you're going to need to create new accounts for CarlParrish.com (I'm trying to keep track of who's actually interested in cp.com).

Happy Thanksgiving

There is much that I have to be thankful for this year.
First of all my lovely wife, I could write a book on why I'm thankful to have her.
Then in no particular order.
My house,
Businesses,
Being able to work for myself,
Loving what I do for a living,
Wonderful supportive family,
A few months away from being completly out of debit,
Crazy friends, (everyone should have at least four)
My old church home / family,
My new church home / family,
A great Car,
Our health,

This is without a doubt the best year of my life. And I'm looking forward to topping it next year. Have a great day everyone.

Is it the holidays yet?

Why can't the holidays start a day earlier? It sucks owning your own company some times. If I worked for someone else I'd call in sick today (like so many of my employees did) ::sigh:: but you know you've got to be there for your clients. Looking forward to eating more than I ought tomorrow. Remember though that the point is to give God thanks for all the great things He's done in your life. I'm glad I live in a country that thhought putting aside a day to give God thanks was worth doing.

God Bless you all.

BusinessWeek: That's Linux on the Line

BusinessWeek: That's Linux on the Line - From smartphones to servers, the open-source system is turning up in an ever-expanding variety of products. For consumers, that's good news... [Linux Today]

Too often I hear people say that Linux can't beat Microsoft. They either don't know or have forgotten that Linux has already won in the server market and will soon outstrip Microsoft in the embedded world. That of course will lead to more desktop users. Think about it.
